Troll Falls

Location: Kananaskis Country

Difficulty: Low

Approximate Time: 1.5 hours (longer if you’re snowshoeing)

Length: 3 km

Over the weekend I tried something new, snowshoeing! I know it’s not quite hiking and I also know that this post is about summer hiking and snowshoeing is a winter activity. However, snowshoeing is just the same as hiking and there really isn’t much of a learning curve involved with trying out snowshoeing. It is something new to try and really fun!

Troll falls is a really easy hike up to the waterfall and the view is beautiful as captured below. We managed to climb up to the top of the waterfall and snowshoe there because we were looking for more snow, this way the snowshoeing was appropriate instead of just be a novelty. We found plenty of snow at the top of the waterfall and I even fell through the snow without the snowshoes on. Overall, the whole trip was a fantastic day because I had great company and troll falls is wonderful. I would recommend trying snowshoeing to anyone feeling like trying something new.
